In 1977 I left college with an appreciation that any discipline that includes the word "science" is NOT a science - Political Science a prime example.  Over the many years subsequent I've tried to have among my acquaintances some committed Communists.  Over two decades these acquaintances included an Alinskite High School Sociology teacher whose daughter's first employer was George Soros and whose son is a 'labor reporter', and a former Anthropology Professor from UC Berkley.  I will admit to not showing all my cards to either - but at least I was a good listener. From them I learned the left runs from fixed, concise, defining terms like cockroaches run from the light and they will obfuscate to avoid revealing core intent.

To understand the left now I recommend James Lindsay, an atheist, but excellent researcher who, along with Peter Boghossian and Helen Pluckrose, became aware of a line of fraud within academic philosophy and social studies which is intended to precipitate a leftist "deconstruction" of America.  They experimented to see how intellectually bankrupt the movement was.  To do this they produced a number of 'research' papers which appeared to prove the hard left's dogma but were blatantly absurd.  Lindsay even took the 12th chapter of Mein Kampf and, with a few word substitutions - "our movement" (the Nazi Party) replaced with "intersectional feminism", submitted it, it was acclaimed by peer reviewers ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grievance_studies_affair ).

This brought Lindsay to the attention of Michael O'Fallon, a successful businessman and devout Christian who was studying the simultaneous growth of the surveillance state and far left political encroachment into industry and religion. ( https://sovereignnations.com/ )

Memorial Day

While some may forget - like our District President with his news letter this morning - just take a minute to think of how many of our young men - and, to our damnation, some young women as well - have died in the service of our country.  

4,414 Allied dead on D-Day.

6,821 US dead in the Battle of Iwo Jima.

26,000+ dead in the 8th Air Force over Europe.

Some were committed to fighting in wars that directly impacted the future of our country and the free world.  Others were better men and women than the politicians and careerist military 'leaders' that led them to their fates.

Our President understands big concepts, conflates details that don't matter to 'the deal'.  It's just his way.  There are BIG differences in a system to defeat intercontinental ballistic missiles compared with a system to defeat much slower medium ans short range missiles.  So when Trump conflates the good Israeli 'iron dome' system with a necessarily much different and more capable intercontinental Anti-Ballistic Missile  defense I get his meaning even as I cringe on the details.

It won't matter as our defensive system is sorted out, what matters is, Trump accepts reality.  Treaties with the CCP are futile, surprises are inevitable.  A real defensive system is prudent.  Treaties with non-existent parties (the Soviet Union) are void.

Similarly, details about what next generation plane Deep State and the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) wants to bankrupt the country with are hardly in concrete.  Trump has more hours in jets (he owns) than the Generals and Admirals and appreciates the safety margin more than one engine affords.  That's his point.  The Deep State/Military Industrial Complex press merely presents the foolish, persistent contempt for the Commander-in-Chief among the rapidly diminishing ranks of the pampered princelings who made their careers losing wars, being out smarted by China and Iran, and neutering our military with PC garbage.

 Over the last month or so it has been interesting for this pensioner living in central Texas to observe distant events in the military/industrial and global military spheres.   

The Trump administration and congress, instead of taking the chainsaw to the Pentagon's budget has added to it.  Drastic cuts (1) are desperately needed both for our national defense and economic survival. Paradoxically, the same administration demonstrated astonishing good sense and stopped the Houthi project before it became the 'stupid little war' - with Iran no less - that Israel, the Deep State, and the whores in congress paid by the MIC (military industrial complex),  so dearly wanted.  

So ... call me confused.  

On the military tech front I waited for some of the more astute commentators to divine on the possible things learned from the Pakistani v. Indian air battle.

My $.02 ...

First, I've never understood the Indian/Pakistani thing at all.  The relationship looks simultaneously to be both close and murderous Example - https://youtu.be/RXoWNe_HAak

As for platforms, I've written a lot on the Israelis trafficking in valuable US military secrets to China in the past.  The J-10C is a long way from the Lavi - but, admit it, that is where it started (2).  A joint US Israeli fighter program, the design of which was provided to the PRC by our 'special friend'.  Is the J-10 a better jet than the Rafale?

It damm sure ain't as pretty, for what that's worth.  And, if Dassault is the same company it was in the '80s I'd bet there's some French pilots already sitting in Indian ready rooms  itching for a rematch.

But, this wasn't a jet vs jet match up akin to the Spitfire vs ME-109 or even F-8 vs Mig-19 match ups of the past.  As neither side crossed it's border and engaged in eyeball to eyeball dogfighting , this was a weapons system match up and in this case the electronics in the J-10C and the Chinese air-to-air missiles bested the French offering.

So ... call me surprised - and alarmed.   The Chinese have produced, and largely on their own, competent, very high technology weapons.  Worse, apparently western electronic warfare is behind on threat detection and electronic countermeasures at least as far as the J-10C/PL-15 is concerned.  I've warned this was coming (3).  Now it's here (or at least appears to be based on the best kind of intel on this stuff there is, i.e. actual combat).

A major task of his is managing relations with, and moderating the damaging influences of, our 'special friend', Israel.  This is a particularly difficult and dangerous task which must, at times, nearly overwhelm him as they create and exploit divisions in Republican party politics, manipulate military industrial/"National Security' institutions, and rally deluded 'Christian' evangelicals to their purposes.

With this in mind let us consider the increasingly strident demand by some good Americans for Trump to release ALL the information related to the activities of Epstein.

A good exercise

Some years ago the Federal Air Marshals had a qualification shoot that was very challenging.  The history of the original TPC (tactical pistol course), and course of fire is in the link below.

I'm beginning to chip away at it, starting with stage 1.  This stage requires 2 shots in the hi score area (white column) from 7 yards with a combined time of 3.3 seconds.  That's firing from concealed, at a target small enough to require sighting, in 1.65 seconds or less, for each shot.  

To the right is the proper target for the TPC,- for now I shoot the FBI QIT with the upper and lower hi score zones connected. 

It's evident after trying this is a good exercise, much more challenging than the FBI qual even though the latter includes greater distances.  I shot six 8 round magazines and only on my 3rd, 4th, and 5th magazines was I shooting fast enough, mainly inside the column but snap acquisition of the sights will be a ... growth area for me.

If you intend to carry a firearm I recommend this drill.  BUT I do not recommend starting with this course of fire if you're new. I've worked up to this by progressing through the Navy NHQC, then the FBI qualifier, for some years first.

It will certainly help you sort out your kit and likely drive you to purchase a laser trainer for home.

Which may well explain why our 'special friend' has been so generous in selling or trading US military secrets and technology to our greatest enemy.  They may even be leveraging Epstein blackmail materials on behalf of Communist China.  Certainly their track record supports the suspicion.   Pollard was stealing a lot of Top Secret material of no use to Israel other than as barter to the Soviets at the peak of the Cold War.

One of them is Frontpage Magazine, a long running product of Mr David Horowitz.  Mr. Horowitz died yesterday.  He was a serious and honest man.  

His son wrote a short bio of him, it included this ...
